A teen boy was rushed to a hospital after a shark bit him while he was on a boat in the Gulf of Mexico on Memorial Day, according to reports. The 17-year-old was boating with his father and another person offshore near Galveston, Texas, ABC13 Houston and KPRC-TV reported. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the bite at around 3:50 p.m. CDT on Monday, May 25. The teen was trying to bring the shark on board when it bit him. Western Mass Man Dies After Boat Crash On Connecticut River; May Have Suffered Medical Event
A Greenfield man died this weekend after his boat crashed on the Connecticut River near the French King Bridge in Turners Falls. Norman Plausky, 54, was found dead in his boat near the shoreline rocks Saturday afternoon, Sept. 13, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said. The engine was still running when police arrived. Authorities were called to the river around 2:30 p.m. They found the man’s boat near the shore. Investigators said the man “may have had a medical event on the boat prior to crash.” Officials said the case remains under investigation.

Two Long Island women were killed and another critically injured when a pontoon boat flipped on Flagstaff Lake in Maine, officials announced on Saturday, Aug. 30. Farhana Nasir, 53, of Selden, and Kiran Akbar, 23, of Lake Grove, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Maine officials. UPDATE: Massachusetts State Environmental Police said they found the body of 51-year-old Carlos Lopez in the Connecticut River on Tuesday, May 30, authorities said. He had been missing since his jetski collided with a boat on Sunday. Investigators found his body near where the collision happened in Easthampton. A 2021 high school graduate from Fairfield County is being remembered by friends and family after he was killed when two jet skis collided in the Long Island Sound. Matthew (Matt) Horvath, age 18, of Shelton, died on Tuesday, July 27, in Milford, said Will Healy, spokesman for the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
