Natural Disaster Americans Fear Most Revealed In New Survey As Weather Anxiety Grows
Americans may live with hurricanes on the coasts, blizzards in the North, and wildfires in the West. But one natural disaster still rises above the rest as the nation’s most feared, a new survey finds. The poll of 2,500 adults, conducted by Talker Research on behalf of Master Lock, found that fears shift depending on the region, but a single threat came out on top nationwide. The threat of a tornado (46 percent) is more terrifying than a tsunami (43 percent), earthquake (35 percent) or hurricane (33 percent), the survey said. Eye On The Storm: These Areas Are Expected To See Accumulating Snow, Poor Travel Conditions
A storm system packed with a wide swath of snow, rain, and strong winds is expected to cause poor travel conditions and bring accumulating snowfall to some spots in the days leading up to Christmas. The system is due to arrive on Thursday, Dec. 22, the National Weather Service said. Projections Updated For Nor'easter That Will Bring Up To 18 Inches Of Snow To Some Spots
A potent storm system that started out with blizzard-like conditions in the Midwest and fatal tornadoes in the South has the potential to dump as much as 18 inches of snow in more areas than earlier projected in the Northeast, according to AccuWeather.com. Nor'easter: Track Shifts For Blockbuster Storm With Projected Snowfall Totals Increasing
The projected track of a blockbuster Nor'easter on target to slam the region has shifted toward the coast, leading to an area in projected snowfall totals increasing, and as much as 36 inches of accumulation is now possible in some spots. Want an early read on the weather outlook for the winter of 2020-21? There already are two forecasts by a pair of publications with long histories, and they're not exactly in agreement.
