Airlines began canceling hundreds of flights after the Federal Aviation Administration ordered reductions as the longest federal government shutdown in US history strains air traffic control staffing. A London woman will not make her return flight to the United Kingdom after US Customs officials found 70 pounds of marijuana in her bags, authorities said. She is the second woman in two months caught with a large load of weed bound for England. Fareedat Folunsho, 19, was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana between 50 and 100 pounds, the Suffolk County District Attorney said. She is being held on $1,500 bail. About 10 police officers have departed from a Western Massachusetts city following "defund the police" budget cuts over the summer. And another 11 officers have put in an application for employment in other departments.
