43-Year-Old Man Hit, Killed By Train In Western Mass A 43-year-old Western Massachusetts man was killed after he was struck by a train Thursday morning, Nov. 21, authorities said.  The unnamed Deerfield man was hit around 8 a.m. on the tracks on South Main Street near Thayer Road, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office said.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation.  According to Amtrak, the Valley Flyer Train 471 was traveling from Greenfield to New Haven. ID Released For 23-Year-Old Hit, Killed By Train In CT Police have released the identity of a man who was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Connecticut. Hartford County resident Amani Abele Ashley, age 23, of Bristol, was killed around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 30 while walking along the train tracks near the intersection of Surrey Lane in Berlin. Person Struck By Train In Western Mass A person was struck by an Amtrak train while trespassing on the racks in Hampden County. The incident took place around 10:22 p.m., Wednesday, March 31 when an individual was trespassing in Holyoke and came into contact with Amtrak Valley Flyer Train 494 traveling between New Haven and Greenfield, said Jason Abrams, a spokesperson for Amtrak.
