Missing Canoer, 20, Found Dead In Western Mass Pond After Days Of Searching
After a nearly five-day search, the body of a 20-year-old canoer who went overboard in Westfield's Pequot Pond was found on Sunday, June 25.
The East Longmeadow man was on the pond with two friends on Wednesday night, June 22, when it capsized, tossing them all into the water. Two men swam to shore, but the third man never resurfaced.
Police have not released his name.
One of the other canoers was hospitalized for injuries.

Woman Dies After Falling From Porch At CT Residence
A Connecticut woman was killed after the railing on her balcony collapsed and she fell more than eight feet to the pavement below.
The incident took place around 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, in Hartford at 82 Chadwick Ave., authorities said.
The woman, who has not been identified, was standing on the second-floor rear deck of her home when the railing collapsed and she fell more than eight feet onto the pavement, causing severe head trauma, said Lt. Aaron Boisvert, of the Hartford Police.
She was transported to Hartford Hospital where she later died, he added.

The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit is investigating an apparent accidental death at a Western Massachusetts resort.
According to Andrew McKeever, of the Berkshires District Attorney's Office, detectives responded to the Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock on Tuesday, Jan. 4, following a snow groomer and a snowmobile collision.
Kimberlee Francoeur, 30, of Lanesborough, died after the snow groomer operator backed into the snowmobile she was operating, McKeever said.
