Officers responded to a report of a woman who had been assaulted in her home off Route 20 in West Springfield around 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, West Springfield Police report.
Upon arrival, police found the woman at a neighbor's house suffering from multiple injuries to her head, neck and upper body. She was taken to the hospital for treatment and her condition was unspecified.
A subsequent investigation and interviews with the woman's family and neighbors led to Jesse Risciotti being identified as the suspect. Risciotti, who is known to the family, was arrested at a Springfield hotel Sunday evening, police said.
Investigation revealed that Risciotti planned his attack and broke into the woman's home between 2:30 and 3 a.m., causing her to escape to her neighbor's house. He charged with the following:
- Aggravated Burglary
- Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person over 60 years of age
- Entering a Dwelling by False Pretenses for a Felony
- Strangulation/Suffocation Serious Bodily Injury
- Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon on Person Over 60
- Assault and Battery on a Person Over 60 w/ Serious Bodily Injury
