On Monday, Jan. 25, Massachusetts mostly ended its 9:30/10 p.m. business curfew and lifted its stay-home advisory for residents.
For MGM Casino in Springfield, the change is allowing the gambling hub to get back to its normal schedule of never closing.
MGM is going back to 24/7 gambling on Friday, Jan. 29, casino owners said in a tweet. Slots will be available at all times, but table games will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. on most days and later on the weekend. The casino will adhere to the still-standing 25 percent maximum occupancy limit.
During the week of Jan. 17, Gov. Charlie Baker said that Massachusetts is showing signs of improvement in fighting the spread of COVID-19 and therefore economic restrictions could ease a bit. While COVID-19 is hitting the U.S. harder than ever before, the average COVID-19 incident rate in Massachusetts has dropped by about 30 percent since the beginning of January.
