Driver In Fatal Chicopee Crash Under Influence At Time Of Wreck: Police
A Hampshire County man was drunk when he crashed into a vehicle in Chicopee, killing the driver and injuring the passenger, authorities said in an update.
Andrew Wilkins, 37, of South Hadley, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, Chicopee police said on Tuesday, July 30.
Police were called to a two-car crash on Memorial Drive Thursday night, July 25. Wilkins was attempting to leave the scene when they arrived, authorities said.
An officer stopped him while another helped the driver of the second vehicle, who was trapped inside the wreckage.

The incidents took place in Hampden County in West Springfield and Chicopee on Sunday, April 24, and on Tuesday, April 26.

Three 17-year-olds have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Western Massachusetts man.
Hampden County residents Andres Torres and Luis Torres, both of Chicopee, and Luis Vasquez, of Springfield, have been arrested in connection with the Monday, Jan. 3, shooting death of Kelvin Cruz-Lopez, 23, of Chicopee, said the Hampden County District Attorney's Office.

Suspect Nabbed In Fatal Shooting In Region
A man has been charged with the shooting death of another man in the region.
Almando Diaz, age 39, of Springfield, was arrested on Monday, Nov. 8, for the murder of Luis Ramos, age 32, also of Springfield, said the Hampden County District Attorney's Office.
Diaz was discovered dead around midnight on Wednesday, March 11, when members of the Chicopee Police Department responded to calls of possible shots fired.

ID Released For Man Shot, Killed In Western Mass
The identity has been released of the person who died after a shooting in the region.
Luis Vazquez, age 28, of Springfield, was shot on Saturday, Aug. 21, on Center Street in Chicopee, said the DA's Office.
The Chicopee Police Department responded to the area and found shell casings but could not find anyone who had been injured.
At the same time, Vazquez arrived by private transportation to Baystate Medical Center’s Emergency Room and appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound.
On Sunday, Aug. 29, Vazquez died as a result of his injuries, the DA's Office said.
