Scooter-Riding Burglar Scared Off By Atlantic Beach Homeowner Authorities are asking for tips after a Long Island homeowner scared off a would-be burglar. The attempted break-in occurred in Atlantic Beach, at a residence on Troy Avenue, at around 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12.  The homeowner was awoken by a stranger attempting to open an unlocked bedroom window, according to Nassau County Police. Yariliz Crespin, 14, was last seen leaving her Hempstead residence at around 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, according to Nassau County Police. Relatives reported her missing on Saturday, Jan. 4. Crespin is 5-foot-2 and 106 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Her clothing description and destination are unknown.
