A Long Island man who fled a car crash while high on weed — only to cause an even-worse wrong-way collision — has pleaded guilty, authorities said.
Miandad Khan, 38, of Dix Hills, copped to aggravated vehicular assault and other charges Friday, Aug. 28, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
Khan will face a two- to six-year prison sentence at his next hearing on Friday, Oct. 30, authorities said.

Michael Schmid, 51, of Oakdale, was hospitalized in critical condition following the Friday, Aug. 21 wreck on Riverview Court, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

A Capital Region man has been arrested for a second rape in Saratoga County, authorities said Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Chad Walco, 49, of Milton, was charged with first-degree rape for an October 2015 incident in Milton, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office said. Additional details were not released.
Walco was also arrested back in March 2026 and charged with third-degree rape for having sex with a child under age 17 in Kayadeross Acres mobile home park, authorities said at the time. That alleged incident occurred Nov. 28, 2025, police said.

Robert S. Thomas, 62, of Greenfield, was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 19 at a home on Murray Road, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office said.
Thomas tried to steal a race car worth more than $3,000 by dragging it out of the owner’s driveway, investigators said. He was also accused of entering and remaining on the person’s property unlawfully, according to authorities.
