Salem Man Sentenced To Prison For Crash That Killed Off-Duty Officer: DA
A Salem man who admitted to recklessly causing the death of a 56-year-old police officer will spend a year in prison, authorities said. Juan Martinez pleaded guilty Tuesday, Sept. 27, to vehicular homicide in the wreck that killed Dana Mazola on June 25, 2020, the Essex County District Attorney's Office said. A judge sentenced him to serve a year of a two-and-a-half year prison sentence with six months of house arrest when he's released, the prosecutor said. He must also forfeit his license for 15 years. Man Who Killed 1, Injured 2 More In Boston DUI Crash Gets 4 To 5 Years In Prison: DA
A Bellingham man who was high on drugs when he crashed into three people last year in Boston, killing one, will spend at spend between four and five years in prison, authorities said. Kevin McCaffrey, 47, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide while under the influence of drugs and driving under the influence of drugs in the 2021 crash, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said.
