Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Ex-Con Found Guilty Of Shooting Transgender Sex Partner Just After Sex Act: Feds An ex-con from Washington DC has been convicted of shooting a transgender victim following a sexual act, federal authorities announced. Jerry Tyree, who has previous weapon and drug convictions in Maryland and the District, was found guilty by a Superior Court jury of aggravated assault while armed for shooting his victim in November last year in Northeast DC. Child Playing With Lighter Sparks Blaze At Harford County Apartment Building: Fire Marshal Things got a little too hot to handle for a child playing with a lighter inside a Harford County apartment that was damaged by fire on Wednesday afternoon, officials say.
