Infections are “growing” or “likely growing” in 31 states, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) said after releasing new data Tuesday, Sept. 2, even as the national share of emergency department visits for COVID remains low.

Mass Man Struck In NJ Drive-By Shooting, Transports Himself To Hospital: Police
A 47-year-old Massachusetts man was shot in a drive-by shooting on the early morning of Sunday, April 20, authorities said.
The man, a resident of Brockton, had been attending a gathering on the 100 block of Walnut Street, Bridgeton police said. Upon leaving the party, the man walked to his car, which was parked in an adjacent lot, police said.
While driving near Irving Avenue and Church Street, his vehicle was struck by gunfire and he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

Shark Attack: 2 American Women Seriously Injured At Bahamas Resort
Two American women suffered injuries in a rare Bahamas shark attack.
The tourists were swimming in Bimini Bay, a popular resort, when the incident happened early Friday evening, Feb. 7, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
After receiving initial treatment, they were airlifted to a hospital. One of the women, both of whom are from Florida, suffered severe injuries and underwent three surgeries, ABC News reports.
The incident is under investigation.

Fundraiser For Family Who Lost Parents In Worcester House Fire Passes Goal
A married couple who lived with their children and grandchildren were identified as the two people killed in a housefire in Worcester earlier this week, according to a fundraiser for the family.
Juana Candelario, 59, and Daniel Gonzalez, 62, were married for 30 years before their deaths on Tuesday, May 28, in a house fire at their 3 Hancock St. home, the fundraiser said.
