Two police officers in Western Massachusetts are being hailed as heroes after saving a baby who was choking. The incident took place in Springfield on Monday, May 9. A Western Mass man who was attempting to hang himself from a tree was saved by quick-thinking police officers. The incident took place in Hampden County in Springfield around 11:!5 a.m., Monday, April 25. A longtime Western Massachusetts police officer is fighting for his life in a hospital after contracting COVID-19. Officer Jamie Kelly of Springfield, a member of the Springfield Police Department since 2008 and the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department before that, has been on a ventilator for more than two weeks after contracting the virus, a GoFundMe effort said. Residents Rescued After Fire Breaks Out In Region
Footage of body cameras worn by Western Massachusetts police officers has been released to the public showing them rescuing residents from a burning building. The incident took place in Hampden County around 4:15 a.m., Monday, Dec. 13, when members of the Springfield Police Department responded to a call for a fire at a multi-family home on Fort Pleasant Avenue. A driver in Western Massachusetts has died of his injuries after a two-car crash. The crash took place around 4:20 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, on Verge Street in Springfield.
