Victim Burned In Yonkers Fire, Roads Closed (Developing) A person was burned during a fire in Westchester that caused road closures, police said.  The fire happened in the area of 21 Van Cortlandt Park Ave. in Yonkers on Thursday, Jan. 16, causing the road to close between Spruce Street and Elm Street, according to Yonkers Police.  The blaze began on the third floor at around 1 p.m. and also caused Elm Street to close between Walnut Street and Prescott Street, according to Yonkers Police Sgt. Road Reopens After 'Death Investigation' In Carmel (Developing) A section of road in Putnam County has reopened following a police investigation into a death. Hughson Road in the town of Carmel was closed from Stoneleigh Avenue to Cross Road as authorities investigated a death, Carmel Police announced on Thursday, Jan. 16. Carmel Police Lt. Michael Bodo said they were conducting a "death investigation" at the scene. Taconic Parkway Clear After Car Hits Guardrail In Putnam Valley (Update) A crash caused a closure on the Taconic State Parkway in the Hudson Valley. The incident happened in Putnam County on Thursday, Jan. 16 around 10:20 a.m. on the southbound Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley north of Exit 25, according to 511NY. According to New York State Police, a single car traveling south crashed into the center guard rail. No injuries were reported.  The parkway was cleared as of 1 p.m.

Longtime Rye Firefighter Dies: Served For Over 3 Decades A fire department in Westchester has announced the death of Mike Cucchiara, who bravely served his community for more than 30 years.  The death of Cucchiara, a retired career firefighter with the Rye Fire Department, was announced by his former department on Wednesday night, Jan. 15.  Cucchiara retired in 2020 after 31 years with the department.  "The department will remember his service to the city and wish his family and friends our sympathy during this time," the department wrote in a social media page.  More information about Cucchiara's death was not made public. …
