A fast-moving storm system is bringing a mix of rain, sleet, and snow, causing slippery travel trouble throughout the Northeast on what's a white Christmas Eve.
The wintry precipitation is falling from Washington, DC to Boston on Tuesday, Dec. 24, with up to a foot of snowfall in some spots.

Christmas Eve Clipper Storm Will Bring Snow, Sleet, Rain To Northeast: Here's Timing
It's beginning to look a lot like much of the Northeast will see a new round of snowfall on Christmas Eve.
Ahead of the storm, Sunday, Dec. 22, will remain sunny but bitterly cold as Arctic air continues to grip the region, according to the National Weather Service.
On Monday, Dec. 23, expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures around freezing. Clouds will increase at night as an Alberta Clipper system moves in from the west.
Precipitation, including snow, sleet, and rain, is expected from about 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve, with mostly cloudy skies on Tuesday, Dec. 24.

The National Weather Service has released snow totals from this week's winter storm.
Snowfall accumulation impacted areas across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New York, with Sussex County, NJ, and Putnam County, NY, seeing the highest totals from Sunday, Dec. 15 into Monday, Dec. 16.

Rounds of severe storms with drenching downpours have closed roads, flooded homes, and destroyed roads across Connecticut.
According to the National Weather Service, Monroe was one of the hardest-hit areas, with 9.98 inches of rain on Sunday, Aug. 18. Firefighters and police worked throughout the night to rescue trapped drivers and residents from rapid flooding.

Severe Storms, Possible Tornadoes Fueled By Beryl's Remnants To Hit Northeast: Timing, Track
Numerous clusters of severe thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and possible isolated tornadoes fueled by the remnants of Beryl are headed to the Northeast.
Beryl, which made landfall along the Texas coast as a Category 1 hurricane on Monday, July 8, will move into upstate New York and northern New England on Wednesday, July 10, starting late in the afternoon and continuing overnight.
The most severe storms on Wednesday are expected in areas marked in orange and yellow in the image above, mainly farther north and west of the I-95 corridor.

Eversource Preparing For Power Outages, Downed Trees As Storm Intensifies In CT
As a strong storm system brings gusty winds and heavy rain to Connecticut, Eversource is preparing crews to respond to any power outages, downed trees, or other damage caused by the weather.
The storm system, which arrived on Wednesday, Feb. 28, is bringing powerful wind gusts of 25 to 25 miles per hour to the state and is set to continue overnight into Thursday, Feb. 29, according to predictions from the National Weather Service.
