For some people taking popular weight-loss drugs, the change may go beyond the scale.
The term "Ozempic personality" has emerged online and among some patients to describe emotional flattening, reduced motivation, or a loss of pleasure while taking GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound.
The Washington Post examined the phenomenon in a report published Thursday, April 16, noting that doctors and patients have described a dulled response not only to food, but also to hobbies, socializing, music, exercise, and romance.

New York and Connecticut residents can breathe easier: Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield has reversed its decision to impose time limits on anesthesia coverage during procedures, officials announced Thursday, Dec. 5.
The policy, initially set to take effect on Feb. 1, 2025, would have capped anesthesia coverage if a procedure exceeded an arbitrary time limit, regardless of medical necessity, according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
