Who says you can’t have a king’s cup on a commoner’s coin? A $33 wine from a Connecticut vineyard was served to King Charles III at a White House state dinner this week. A Riesling from Hopkins Vineyard in Warren was served at a White House state dinner hosted by President Donald Trump and attended by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The Hopkins Riesling “Heritage” 2024 was one of three wines served at the diplomatic dinner. It lists for $33 on the vineyard’s website, making it a rare, affordable pick on a global stage. A police officer on his first solo shift helped save a woman’s life after she went into cardiac arrest following a crash in South Jersey last month, authorities said. At 8:23 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, officers responded to to Greentree Road in front of All American Assisted Living for a report of a vehicle that struck a telephone pole, Washington Township police said. A woman died after her arm was bitten off by a shark at a popular St. Croix beach in the US Virgin Islands, authorities said. Arlene Lillis of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, was identified as the victim who died on Thursday, Jan. 8. The shark bit the 56-year-old woman's arm in the water at Dorsch Beach in Frederiksted. A 3-year-old Fairfield County child has been identified as the victim of a drowning in a backyard kiddie pool.
