ID Released For Man Killed In Two-Vehicle Western Mass Crash The identity has been released of a man killed in a two-vehicle crash in Western Massachusetts. It happened at approximately 1 a.m. Friday, June 25 in Hampden County, on Route 291 eastbound at the 5.0-mile marker in Chicopee.  State Police troopers arrived on the scene where they found a person involved in the crash with serious life-threatening injuries and began CPR, and subsequently utilized an AED.  The man, now identified as Francisco Flores, age 41, of Springfield.was determined to be dead at the scene, according to state police.  Earlier report: One…

CT Man Facing Charges After Fatal Mass Turnpike Crash One person was killed in a crash involving a Freightliner tractor-trailer, a 2020 Toyota Camry, and a 2008 Toyota Sienna van in Western Massachusetts. At 3:22 p.m. Friday, April 23, troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Lee responded to the crash on the eastbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike in Becket.  Preliminary investigation by state police and the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office indicates that the tractor-trailer was eastbound approaching Mile Marker 15 when traffic in front of the truck began to slow because of traffic. Time Is Running Out To Save Route 5/10 Native American Site From New Construction A campaign to stop the construction of a roundabout on suspected Native American land has just one week left to raise objections. In mid-December, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) finished a review of a proposed roundabout construction site at the congested intersection of Routes 5/10 in Northampton. So far, items that have been recovered from the area include a “moderate density of artifacts” including flake and hammerstone. Announced a year ago, the plan to get Massachusetts’ highways in-line with the federal exit numbering strategy - a “milepost-based system” - will soon be visible to motorists, WCVB reports.
