The couple was found shot to death in Hartford County in East Granby, on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m., and were identified as T.J. Jacius, age 49, and Doreen Jacius, age 48, both of East Granby.
Jacius was a police sergeant for Avon Police Department where he worked for 24 years, the Avon Police said.
Doreen Jacius was the director of the East Granby Town Library.
The library, which is currently closed to grieve for Jacius said: " The East Granby Public Library staff and Board of Directors are shocked and devastated by the sudden loss of our Director, Doreen Jacius. She was beloved by us and the community. We grieve with the town."
A candlelight vigil which more than 200 people attended was held on Monday, Aug. 29, for the much-loved director who touched many during her years at the library.
The couple was found when troopers and East Granby officers responded to the residence, for a report of gunshots.
Although police had called the deaths "suspicious" their deaths were ruled a murder-suicide by the chief medical examiner's office.
The library said it plans to reopen on Friday, Sept. 2.
