Woman Who Pocketed $1.4M In Unpaid Business Taxes Gets 19 Months In Prison: Feds
A Connecticut businesswoman who admitted to withholding more than $1 million in payroll taxes to spend on her mortgage, home repairs, and casino trips will spend more than a year and a half behind bars, authorities announced.
Michelle Ann Gilson, 38, of Guilford in New Haven County, was sentenced this week to 19 months in prison followed by three years of probation, and she must pay the IRS more than $1.4 million in restitution, the US Attorney for Connecticut said.

You'll want to keep an eye on the sky in the coming days and weeks.
A newly discovered comet is about to make its closest pass by Earth later in the week and is expected to be visible through the end of October.
Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, or C/2023 A3, which was first identified last year, is expected to be especially vivid, and its brightness could even compare to Jupiter, according to The New York Times.
The comet will be closest to earth -- about 44 million miles, mind you -- on Saturday, Oct. 12, according to NASA.

Man Shot After Gunman Fires Wildly In Neighborhood, Hitting Home, Car
A Connecticut man was shot in the upper body Sunday night, Oct. 6, after someone wildly fired a gun in a New London County neighborhood, shooting a house and a car in the process, authorities said.
Police were called to McKinley Avenue near Warren Street in Norwich around 8 p.m., authorities said.
When Norwich Police arrived at the scene, they found the man with a bullet wound, the damaged property, and evidence someone had fired several shots. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the attack.

Greenwich Ferrari Heist: Teen, Man Accused Of Stealing Multiple Luxury Cars
A Connecticut teen and 22-year-old man with long criminal histories are accused of stealing a $575,000 Ferrari from Greenwich and later an Acura from New York, authorities said. It's not the first time they've been linked to a stolen luxury vehicle.
Keon Webster, 18, and Dion Schontten, 22, both of Waterbury, are charged with stealing a motor vehicle, authorities said. This is Schotten's second time he's been charged with that crime and Webster's seventh, Waterbury police said.
