Waterbury Teen Killed, Driver Fled: Shelton Man Faces Manslaughter Charges In Route 8 Crash
A Connecticut man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash on Route 8 that killed a Waterbury teenager and injured two others, state police said.
Carlos Beamonte, 39, of Shelton, was taken into custody Friday, Jan. 16, according to Connecticut State Police. The crash happened in the early morning hours of Jan. 12, 2025.
Beamonte is charged with second-degree manslaughter, two counts of assault with a motor vehicle, evading responsibility resulting in death, two counts of evading responsibility resulting in injury, and tampering with evidence, police said.

A Danbury man died after a violent, head-on crash that sent a woman to the hospital on Thursday, Jan. 15, authorities said.
Wade Meeker, 51, was found unresponsive behind the wheel of a Nissan Rogue after the head-on collision at Route 34 and Maiden Lane in Seymour, around 3:45 p.m., Seymour police said.
The crash happened at the intersection of Route 34, also known as Roosevelt Drive, and Maiden Lane, where Meeker's 2010 Nissan Rogue and a 2015 Dodge Charger collided head-on.

Daniel Popiolek, of Beacon Falls, crashed just before 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, when his Subaru went off the side of Route 8 in Seymour, Connecticut State Police said.
