CT Mom Charged After Baby Nearly Drowned While Unattended In Kiddie Pool: Police
A police officer is being credited with saving the life of a 1-year-old who nearly drowned in a backyard pool, while the child’s mother now faces charges, authorities said.
Carla Sanchez, 26, of Norwalk, was arrested and charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor after investigators said she left the infant and another child unattended in a kiddie pool.

9 Dead In Fire At Massachusetts Assisted Living Facility
Nine people died in a late-night fire at an assisted living facility in Massachusetts, fire officials said.
The fire broke out around 9:50 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Gabriel House on Oliver Street in Fall River, according to Fall River Fire Chief Jeffrey Bacon, Police Chief Kelly Furtado, State Fire Marshal Jon Davine, and Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III.
When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke and flames at the front of the building with occupants trapped inside, officials said. Crews immediately went in, rescuing many residents while battling the fire.

Severe Storms Lead To Flooding, Water Rescues, Road Washouts Across CT
Rounds of severe storms with drenching downpours have closed roads, flooded homes, and destroyed roads across Connecticut.
According to the National Weather Service, Monroe was one of the hardest-hit areas, with 9.98 inches of rain on Sunday, Aug. 18. Firefighters and police worked throughout the night to rescue trapped drivers and residents from rapid flooding.
