Burn Hazard Prompts Huge Recall Of Heated Socks
Tens of thousands of pairs of heated socks are being recalled after nearly a dozen reports of burns and blisters. Fieldsheer Apparel Technologies issued the recall for about 45,000 heated socks, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, Aug. 7. The socks can cause pain and injuries when worn during activities that generate a combination of heat, friction, moisture, and pressure. A 35-year-old Connecticut motorcyclist is in critical condition after a three-vehicle crash sent him to the hospital just days after celebrating his birthday, authorities said. CT Officer Involved In Crash Responding To Emergency Call
A Rocky Hill police officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a car crash on Tuesday evening, Aug. 5. The officer was involved in the crash around 5:45 p.m. in the area of 279 Elm Street while responding to an emergency call for help, police said. The officer, who was not identified, and the other driver suffered injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Both are expected to be OK, authorities said. The crash is under investigation.

Tens of thousands of garlic presses are being recalled due to a defect that could lead to cuts or swallowed metal fragments. IKEA issued the recall for about 43,830 of its 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic presses, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, July 31. About 10,700 were also sold in Canada. Raymond Moreau, 59, had responded with the Plainville Fire Department to a structure fire at 45 Maria Road at approximately 6:20 a.m. Sunday, Connecticut State Police said at a press conference.
