Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is turning New York City into the pizza capital of the world this Saturday, Sept. 13, when his One Bite Pizza Festival takes over Randall’s Island Park.
With more than 40 of Portnoy’s highest-rated pizzerias dishing out slices from noon until night, expect New York–style, Neapolitan, Sicilian, tomato pies, grandma slices, and bar pies, all in one place.

3 From CT Towns Indicted In Stolen Check Conspiracy, Feds Say
A Waterbury woman known as “Thunder” is accused of leading a stolen check and bank fraud scheme that targeted small businesses across Connecticut, federal officials said.
Michelle Freeman, 37, of Waterbury, along with Leshanda Long, 43, of Hamden, and Omar Eaddy, 40, of Bridgeport, have been indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud. Each faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
According to prosecutors, Freeman, Long, and Eaddy carried out a scheme that involved stealing checks from mailboxes, altering them, and using “check runners” to cash them at banks and check-cashing…
6-Year-Old Missing After Falling Into Housatonic River At Boat Ramp
A 6-year-old boy who fell into the Housatonic River in Stratford remained missing late Wednesday after several hours of intense search efforts, authorities said.
The child had been walking near the Birdseye Boat Ramp around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, when he fell into the river, police said.
A United Illuminating employee who saw the boy fall jumped into the water in an attempt to rescue the child, but was unable to reach him.
The boy has not been seen since.

With summer-like heat moving in, health officials have issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for much of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and the Philadelphia metro area on Wednesday, June 4 (scroll down to check your town's air quality index).

CT Man Accused Of Luring Women With Job Offer, Then Sexually Assaulting Them: Police
A Connecticut man is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman who believed they had been hired to clean homes, authorities said.
Joseph Kolenda, 64, of Fairfield, was arrested this week and charged with sexual assault and robbery, according to Easton police. Detectives believe he may be involved in a second, similar attack, and additional charges are expected.
The first reported assault occurred on Nov. 14, 2024, when a homeowner in Easton called police after a woman banged on her door around 10:30 a.m., pleading for help, authorities said.

Two Fairfield County teens face charges after a homemade explosives experiment ended with one of them suffering severe hand injuries, police said.
Nathaniel Lennon, 19, and Daniel Calarco, 18, both of Fairfield, are accused of making four homemade explosive devices and detonating three of them at the Pine Creek Marsh in December, according to police.

Elijah Holloman, age 21, and Dominique Adrian Reid, age 26, both of Bridgeport, face several felonies following a chase on Thursday, Oct. 3, Fairfield Police said.
