Food Sold At Big Y Linked To Nationwide Salmonella Outbreak, FDA Says Big Y Foods has recalled several types of sandwiches and wraps at more than two dozen stores as part of a nationwide salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers. The recall covers any small or large sub, 30-inch Super Sub, wrap, or panini made fresh at the deli counter, the Food and Drug Administration said. The sandwiches weren't prepackaged and were made on Tuesday, May 20, and Wednesday, May 21. Big Y said the sliced cucumbers came from Smartcuts, which was affected by Bedner Growers' salmonella outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention previously said the cucumbers …

Clinton Pilot Who Died In CT Glider Crash Remembered As 'One Of The Greatest Humans' A Connecticut dentist who died in a single-engine ultralight glider crash last week is being remembered for his devotion to family, passion for flying, and unwavering kindness. Bradley Daar, 70, of Clinton, was killed on March 14 when his aircraft went down in a wooded area near Cedar Lake Road in Deep River. Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later that day. He leaves behind a wife and two sons.  The Illinois native made Connecticut his home in 1983. Clinton Driver Killed, Another Hospitalized In Westbrook Crash A Connecticut man was killed and another person was hospitalized in a crash this week.  Michael Sutyla, 76, of Clinton, died on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in Westbrook Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 18, Connecticut State Police said.  Police believe Sutyla ran a stop sign at the intersection of Boston Post Road and Hammock Road, causing a crash with another car around 4 p.m.  Paramedics took Sutyla to Middlesex Shoreline Clinic, where he later died of his injuries.
