Red Sox Hall-Of-Famer Mike Greenwell Dies At 62: Runner-Up To Jose Canseco In 1988 MVP Race Mike Greenwell, the two-time All-Star who spent his entire big-league career with the Boston Red Sox and later served as a county commissioner in Florida, has died at 62. Greenwell's death on Thursday, Oct. 9, followed a battle with thyroid cancer that he publicly disclosed about two months ago.  The Louisville native was a steady presence in left field for Boston from 1985 through 1996. Rookie CT Racecar Driver Charged With Sexual Assault Of Juvenile A New London County stock car racer has been arrested and charged in connection with a sexual assault investigation reported earlier this year, Connecticut State Police announced. Ashton Young, 20, of Griswold, surrendered to Troop E-Montville on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m., police said. CT Resident Among 9 Nabbed During Illegal Racing Event In New Jersey: Police Nine people were arrested and charged with eluding during an illegal car racing event in Newark on Sunday, Sept. 15, authorities said. At 2:31 a.m., police responded to Doremus Avenue and Port Street on a report of several vehicles driving erratically in the middle of the street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Police observed 100 vehicles illegally blocking Doremus Avenue, Fragé said.  A large crowd surrounded a Newark police car, punching and kicking it, attempting to flip it over, Fragé said.
