A teenager accused in a deadly shooting outside of a restaurant is back in Connecticut after being captured in Pennsylvania following a two-year investigation and manhunt, authorities said.
Desire Aitken, 19, of Waterbury, was arrested in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, on April 10, police said. She was extradited to Waterbury last week, where officers served her arrest warrant.
The case stems from a Jan. 30, 2024, killing near the former Bertie's West Indian & American Restaurant on North Main Street, Waterbury.

A Connecticut man will spend decades behind bars for a deadly shooting that left one person dead and another seriously hurt in a New Haven neighborhood.
Treyvon Battle, 35, of Hamden, was sentenced to serve 80 years in prison on Wednesday, April 22, the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice said.
A jury found Battle guilty of murder, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit in January.

A Kansas man who attacked a flight attendant on a plane leaving Bradley International Airport in Connecticut will avoid prison time, federal authorities announced.
Julius Jordan Priester, 25, of Wichita, was sentenced in federal court in Bridgeport on Tuesday, Jan. 20, according to the US Attorney for the District of Connecticut. A federal judge ordered Priester to serve one year of probation and pay a $500 fine.
The incident happened on May 27, 2025, aboard American Airlines Flight 3359, authorities said.
