Snow Storm Threatens Wilton With 3-5 Inches

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - Just when you thought it was safe to put your winter clothes away, a storm Wednesday could drop a few inches of snow on Easton, Weston, Wilton and other parts of nothern Fairfield County.

The snow should start falling around noon, Wednesday, but could change to freezing rain then rain by nightfall, says the National Weather Service, which has issued a winter storm watch for northern Fairfield County. 

"The snow will with sleet ... and freezing rain and rain from west to east Wednesday afternoon and evening ... then become a mix of mainly rain, freezing rain and sleet during Wednesday night," the Weather Service says. "The precipitation should change to all rain during Thursday morning." 

The combination of snow, rain and a trace of ice could make travel hazarous, the Weather Service says. 

The storm will not bring bitter cold with it, as temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-30s during the day Wednesday and drop to around freezing at night before jumping into the 40s on Thursday, the Weather Service says.
