Wanted Man Lured Child Into His Truck Outside Of Park, Sexually Assaulted Her: Police
Police say a Connecticut man kidnapped a child younger than 13 from a New Haven playground and sexually assaulted her in his truck.
Michael Dewitt, age 45, of Seymour, faces multiple felonies from the alleged incident and is being held on a $1.25 million bond, Waterbury Police said.
The girl told police that she was playing at Fulton Park on Wednesday, Oct. 9, around 7 p.m. when a man, later identified as Dewitt, lured her into his truck, where he sexually assaulted her, authorities said. The girl fought her way free and ran to get help.

Woman Sentenced For Killing 34-Year-Old CT Educator
A Connecticut woman will spend at least 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to felony murder of a 34-year-old woman.
New Haven County resident Heather Anderson, age 35, of Naugatuck, was sentenced on Thursday, March 21 to 30 years in prison, with a 25-year minimum, according to Fox61.
The murder took place in New Haven County around 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, in Waterbury on Newbury Street.

A Connecticut woman has been charged with allegedly robbing two banks, two days in a row.
Heather Brown, age 48, of New Haven, was arrested on Monday, Feb. 12 for the two robberies that occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 6, and Wednesday, Feb. 7 in New Haven County in Waterbury.
According to Lt. Nadine Amatruda of the Waterbury Police, around 9:55 a.m., Feb. 6, a woman walked into the Wells Fargo. Bank on Wolcott Street and asked a teller for deposit slips. She then a note to the teller to hand over all of the cash. She left the bank with the money.

A man who was shot in the back of the head allegedly by an 18-year-old Connecticut woman has died from his injuries.
The incident began on Tuesday, Jan. 30, in New Haven County when police found a man shot in the back of the head when responding to a car crash behind Bertie's Restaurant in Waterbury.

A Connecticut convicted felon is being held on a $2.5 million bond following a warrant raid on his apartment in which guns and ammunition were allegedly found.
New Haven County resident Hipolito Lopez, age 49, of Waterbury, was charged on Wednesday, Dec. 6, said Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police.
During the raid of Lopez's apartment, officers recovered a ghost gun assault rifle, two handguns, four high-capacity magazines, and various kinds of ammunition, Bessette said.

New Haven County resident Solomon Roberts Sr., age 44, of Waterbury, died when stopped by Virginia State Police around 11 a.m., on Tuesday, March 7, said Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police.

3 Men Critical After CT Convenience Store Shooting, Police Say
Three men are in critical condition after a shooting at a Connecticut convenience store.
The incident took place in New Haven County around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 in Waterbury.
The men were discovered after officers responded to Otto’s Convenience Store and Smoke Shop, located at 496 West Main St., for a report of shots fired, said Lt. Ryan Bessette, of the Waterbury Police.
