Car Burglar Ends Up Soaking Wet After Running From Police In Stamford A man ended up soaking wet after running straight into the Rippowam River while trying to escape police custody for stealing from cars, Stamford Police said. The incident began around 2 a.m. Thursday when a Windsor Road woman reported to police that a man was breaking into a neighbor's car, said Sgt. Brian Butler.
