Connecticut residents woke up to a blanket of snow Thursday, Dec. 5. A storm dropped as much as 5.5 inches in some areas, according to the National Weather Service. Lisbon in New London County saw the highest snowfall in Connecticut with 5.5 inches, while Wolcott in New Haven County recorded 4.5 inches. Fairfield County towns, including New Fairfield and Ridgefield, saw up to 3.2 inches. Most other areas across the state reported accumulations between 1 and 3 inches. A new predicted track has been released by forecasters for a slow-moving storm that will move from west to east over the weekend. The timing for the storm is late Sunday night, Feb. 12 into Monday morning, Feb. 13. 19-Car Pileup During Height Of Storm Among Hundreds Of Crashes Reported In Region
This story has been updated. A 19-car-pileup during the height of the Nor'easter was one of numerous storm-related crashes in the region, although most motorists stayed off roadways. At least six people were injured in the multi-vehicle crash that shut down part of the Henry Hudson Parkway in upper Manhattan Wednesday, Dec. 16 during the evening hours as the snow was beginning to pile-up. CT State Police Preparing For Major Nor'easter Bringing Heavy Snowfall, Strong Winds
As one of the strongest snowstorms in years heads for the region, the Connecticut State Police is warning drivers to be prepared and stay off the roadways if possible. The storm, which is forecast to arrive in the late afternoon on Wednesday, Dec. 16, is expected to dump up to a foot or more of snow and produce wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour. Connecticut State Police Respond To Nearly 100 Accidents During Snowstorm
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Most people in Fairfield County decided on Thursday to stay off the roads amidst a giant snowstorm that dropped as much as 13 inches on parts of the area, but Connecticut State Police still responded to hundreds of calls for service during the day. From 6 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, state police received 1,492 calls for service. There were 89 accidents, including 11 accidents with injury. There were no fatalities, and troopers made one DUI arrest. They assisted 441 motorists during the day.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Fairfield firefighters had to battle blinding snow, gale force winds, and a frozen nozzle as the doused a car fire during Thursday's snowstorm, according to a Facebook post. Engine 1 and Rescue 1 responded to the car fire on I- 95 northbound near the rest area in Fairfield. The problems "caused by the arctic cold made a routine fire difficult," the Facebook post.
