Stamford ShopRite Renovates, Expands Services
Big changes are coming to a Fairfield County ShopRite that is undergoing a renovation.
The privately owned grocery chain announced on Thursday, March 14, that the renovation of its Commerce Street ShopRite, located at 1990 W. Main St. in Stamford, is well underway.
The Commerce Street store renovation will feature a new exterior façade and interior decor enhancements, as well as completely reimagined floral, produce, prepared foods, seafood, meat, dairy, and frozen departments.
Company officials said it will also include space for a dedicated beer and craft brew section.

ShopRite To Close 5 NY Locations: Here's Rundown
Supermarket chain ShopRite is closing five stores in New York.
The closures, scheduled for early December, are all in the Capital Region, according to a report by Winsight Grocery Business: Albany, Colonie, Niskayuna, Slingerlands, and North Greenbush.
The closures are due to underperforming sales, the report said.
ShopRite, which launched in the mid-1940s, has stores in six states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

Cream Puff Products Recalled Due To Potential Presence Of Small Metal Fragments
A company has recalled several cream puff products due to the potential presence of small metal fragments.
Poppies International, Inc. recalled several products made from Tuesday, Dec. 7, through Friday, Dec. 10, after the issue was discovered during production, according to an announcement on Tuesday, Dec. 28.
The recalled products were available for sale from Thursday, Dec. 16, through Thursday, Dec. 23, the company reported.

CT Man Arrested For Stealing $2,800 From Two Stores, Police Say
A Connecticut man was arrested for allegedly stealing some $2,800 in cash from two stores last year.
James Hill, age 43, of West Haven, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 30 by Milford Police on two active warrants which took place in January and February of 2020, Milford Police said.
Hill is accused of stealing over $1,300 from the Big Y at 105 Boston Post Road, in January 2020 and $1,500 from ShopRite, in February 2020, police said.
He was charged with two counts of larceny and was released on a promise to appear ticket.

Navy Veteran Rocco Cingari Of Stamford, CEO Of Company That Owns 11 ShopRite Stores In CT, Dies
President and CEO of Grade A Market Inc., which owns 11 ShopRite stores in Connecticut, Rocco "Rocky" Salvatore Cingari, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died Monday, June 3 at age 89.
After serving in the U.S. Navy Cingari spent the next 67 years, first as vice president of Grade A ShopRite Supermarkets, and in the early '80s, rising to become president and CEO, a position he has held to date.
He also served on the board of directors of Wakefern Food Corp.
Cingari was born Aug. 14, 1929, son of the late Salvatore and Rosa D'Allura Cingari.
