Man Guilty In Fatal Shooting Of CT Husband, Father Of 3
A 49-year-old Maryland man was found guilty of gunning down a Connecticut father of three in 2020, authorities said.
Rashad Hardy was found guilty on Aug. 28 of murder, carrying a pistol with a permit, and criminal possession of a firearm, the Connecticut State Attorney's Office said.
Hardy was convicted of killing Ricky Newton, age 36, of New Haven, on Rosette Street in July 2020, police said.
Police found evidence of the slaying while executing a search on an unrelated matter at a group home in Maryland, where Hardy was living at the time, officials continued.…
6 Shootings, 3 Streets, 1 Night, 1 Dead: New Haven Neighborhood Has Violent Sunday
Six people were shot in New Haven’s Hill neighborhood on Sunday, Aug. 16; one of the victims has died.
New Haven police responded to a ShotSpotter report that gunfire had been detected as well as 911 calls about the incident.
Four people were taken by ambulance to a hospital, another two were transported privately, police said.
One person has died, police said, and, as of Sunday, the other five were in stable condition.
The crime scene contains portions of Rosette, Hurlbut, and Wilson streets.
