As of Friday, Jan. 3, the amount of acute respiratory illness causing people to seek healthcare is high and continues to increase nationally, the agency said.

More Flu Deaths Reported In Connecticut, Bringing Total To 72 For Season
As all eyes are trained on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), there were two more flu-related deaths in Connecticut last week, bringing the total to 72 for the season.
According to the Connecticut Department of Health, the flu remains “widespread” statewide, with a total of 2,934 influenza-related hospitalizations reported since the beginning of the flu season, including 118 in the past week, down from the week before.
As of the week ending on Saturday, March 21, just one of the 65 flu-related deaths reported was a toddler, the bulk were senior citizens.

Flu Now Widespread In Connecticut, With Three Related Deaths Reported
Flu season is in full gear, with another flu-related death reported this week in Connecticut, as the Department of Public Health described the "influenza activity classification" as “widespread.”
According to the Department of Public Health, during the week of Monday, Dec. 1, a third flu-associated death was reported, each oner the age of 65. There were 29 new hospitalizations for flu-related symptoms, bringing the total to 120 on the season.
