747 Employees To Be Laid Off From People's United Bank's CT Locations More than 700 employees of People's United Bank's Connecticut locations are set to be laid off. The Connecticut Department of Labor reported that between Oct. 1 of 2021 and May 20, 2022, 747 employees will be laid off.  The news comes after the company announced a merger with M&T Bank Corporation. Bank Robber Nabbed Minutes After Crime, Bridgeport Police Say Police grabbed an armed bank robber just minutes after the alleged crime. The incident took place around 8:55 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, at the People's United Bank at 850 Main St., in Bridgeport, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department. Police responded to the bank after an employee called 911 to report the robbery. The suspect was apprehended a short distance away, Jones said. No further information has been immediately released.
