First Selectman In Fairfield County Recovering After Stroke
A top elected official in Fairfield County is recovering after being hospitalized following a stroke, officials said. During a broadcast of the Board of Selectman meeting in New Canaan, Selectman Nick Williams announced that First Selectman Kevin Moynihan has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke. Moynihan, age 72, reportedly suffered a minor stroke and is now recovering following his hospitalization. He has been the first selectman in New Canaan since 2017. Handicapped Motorists Parked In Metered Lots Will Now Be Charged In New Canaan
In the near future, handicapped motorists parking in New Canaan will have to pay to park in metered lots following a vote by the Parking Commission. Officials voted 4-1 (Crum against) to begin charging handicapped permit-holders who park in designated spaces in the lots at Morse Court and Center School, according to city documents. Power Outages Now Hitting 27 Percent Of New Canaan
As more than 27 percent of New Canaan residents continue to deal with power outages, officials are warning that downed power lines continue to be a problem as trees tumble. A classic example of the danger could be seen Wednesday during the height of the storm when several power lines caught fire on Weed Street, putting on a show for residents until firefighters could arrive to douse the flames.
