Horses Rescued After Fire Breaks Out At Barn Just Over CT Line Around a dozen horses had to be rescued from a barn that caught on fire in the Hudson Valley, fire officials announced. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Jan. 10 around 8:20 p.m., when the hay storage area inside a barn at the High Point Equestrian Center at 572 East Branch Rd. in Patterson caught on fire, according to the Putnam Lake Fire Department.  Arriving fire crews were able to quickly knock out a large portion of the blaze, but found completely extinguishing it difficult because of the heavily stacked hay storage inside the barn. Fallen, Stuck Horse Rescued By Quick-Thinking Firefighters In CT Thanks to quick action from firefighters, a fallen horse in Connecticut that had become stuck and unable to get up was saved.  The incident happened in Hartford County on Tuesday, Sept. 5 around 10:20 a.m., when the Broad Brook Fire Department responded to a home in East Windsor where a horse had slipped and fallen, causing it to end up in a position where it was unable to get back on its feet.  According to the fire department, crews were eventually able to maneuver the horse up a hill to a position where it was finally able to get up on its own.  Fire officials said the re…

1,200-Pound Horse Stuck Under Fence Rescued By Firefighters In Stamford Firefighters in Fairfield County rescued a 1,200-pound horse who was stuck under a fence. Stamford firefighters responded to June Road around 6:15 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26 to a stable in the rear of the property where a 20-year-old horse named Tex was down and partially stuck under a fence, said Captain Philip Hayes, of the Stamford Fire Department.  Engine Co. 9 arrived on the scene and found a 20-year-old male horse lying on his side.
