Woman Charged In Death Of Her 1-Year-Old Grandchild In Fairfield County
A grandmother has been arrested in connection with the death of her 1-year-old grandchild.
Cora Brandon, age 60, of Danbury, was arrested by Danbury Police on Wednesday, May 26, for the Wednesday, March 17, death of the child.
The investigation into the death began when the Danbury Police Department were summoned to the Danbury Hospital for the untimely passing of the child, said Det. Lt. Mark Williams.
As the child’s death circumstances were suspicious, an investigation was initiated to determine the cause or reason for his passing.

Police are asking for witnesses to a three-vehicle crash on the Litchfield Turnpike that left a 39-year-old Fairfield County woman dead.
Sharon May Piech, of Danbury, was killed around 1:34 p.m., Sunday, April 18 in Washington, following the violent crash, that also injured several other people, said the Connecticut State Police.

The 22-year-old Fairfield County college student who died in a vehicle crash was a well-known football and rugby player.
Brandon Hensel, of Newtown, was killed around 5 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 28 on Toddy Hill Road in Newtown, according to police.
Hensel, who was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer, was discovered on a property on Quarry Ridge Road and was transported by Newtown Ambulance to Danbury Hospital where he died on Monday, March 1, said Newtown PD Lieutenant Aaron Bahamonde.

ID Released For 20-Year-Old Killed In Head-On Route 7 Crash
A 20-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash in Fairfield County on Route 7.
The crash took place around 4:02 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, on Route 7 near Stonehenge Road in Ridgefield.
The two vehicles collided head-on, and both drivers needed to be extricated from their vehicles, said Ridgefield Police Captain Shawn Platt.
Jose Miguel Guillen-Hernandez, of Waterbury, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Platt said.

Nuvance To Bring 500 Jobs From Other Locations To New Site In Danbury
In Connecticut's largest office space lease this year, Nuvance Health Systems has rented a 220,000 square foot office space in Danbury, and will hire 500 employees.
Nuvance, formerly Western Connecticut Medical, is leasing a portion space at the newly named "Summit at Danbury" space for 12 years and may expand to 300,000 square feet in the facility.
The space, according to Nuvance, will include its executive headquarters, labs, clinical facilities and its back offices.
