House Fire Sends Firefighter To Hospital, 14 Residents Displaced In Danbury A Fairfield County firefighter was taken to the hospital and 14 residents were left homeless following a two-alarm house fire. The blaze started in Danbury just after 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 17 on Locust Avenue. Arriving firefighters found a 3-story, multi-family home with heavy smoke emitting from multiple sides, said Capt. Kevin Lunnie of the Danbury Fire Department. As crews made entry into the home they found a significant fire in the basement extending into the upper floors, Lunnie said. Body Of Missing Swimmer Found By Divers In Candlewood Lake Divers have recovered the body of a man who went missing while swimming on Candlewood Lake in Fairfield County. The man, in his 20s, was found around 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 28 in the area of the lake in Brookfield  -- near "Chicken Rock,'' -- where he went missing on Friday, June 24. Man Dies After Being Pulled From Candlewood Lake Police have identified a 76-year-old man who died at the hospital after falling into Candlewood Lake in Fairfield County, authorities announced. In Brookfield, Wayne Pogers was reported missing to police shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 after he had not been seen by his wife for an extended period of time. 10 Hospitalized Following Seven-Vehicle Route 7 Crash Ten people were hospitalized following a seven-vehicle crash in Northern Fairfield County. The crash took place around 5:10 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, on southbound Route 7 in the area of Exit 11 in Brookfield. When Brookfield firefighters, with help from the Danbury Fire Department, arrived on the scene, they found seven vehicles that had crashed into each other. Paramedic ambulances 18-1 and 18-3 responded with Engines 4, 22, and Rescue 3 from Brookfield. Rescue 1, Engine 23, and four ambulances from the City of Danbury also responded. Three-Alarm Fire Damages Deli In Danbury A three-alarm fire heavily damaged a Danbury deli. The Danbury 911 center received multiple calls stating that a large amount of smoke was billowing from the Marcello's Deli and Catering near Lake Avenue and Hobson Street late in the evening on Monday, Jan. 14.
