Beardsley Zoo In Bridgeport Uncovers Cause Of Exotic Monkey's Deaths Following the death of two Callimico monkeys at the Beardsley Zoo in Fairfield County, zoo officials are underscoring its longstanding commitment to animal safety and welfare. Horse Barn Fire Breaks Out In Fairfield County No horses were injured when a two-alarm horse barn fire broke out on the land of a private residence in Fairfield County. The blaze broke out around 5 a.m., Monday, Jan. 24, in New Canaan, on Silvermine Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found the three-stall barn with a hayloft fully engulfed in flames,  said Assistant Fire Chief Albe Bassett, of the New Canaan Fire Department.
