Horse Barn Fire Breaks Out In Fairfield County No horses were injured when a two-alarm horse barn fire broke out on the land of a private residence in Fairfield County. The blaze broke out around 5 a.m., Monday, Jan. 24, in New Canaan, on Silvermine Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found the three-stall barn with a hayloft fully engulfed in flames,  said Assistant Fire Chief Albe Bassett, of the New Canaan Fire Department.
