Newborn Kittens Found Abandoned In Calvin Klein Shoebox, New Canaan Police Say Police officers made a rescue of a feline kind after three newborn kittens were found abandoned at a Fairfield County post office. The rescue took place around 6:45 a.m., Saturday, July 11, when New Canaan Police officers responded to the New Canaan Post Office for a report of a suspicious box on the landing dock. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, a New York State Department of Transportation crew getting ready to mow near mile marker 50 in Dutchess County on the highway in East Fishkill heard what sounded like a dog barking in the nearby woods, state police said.
