Angel Thompson, 29, was stopped at Danbury Road/Westport Road for failing to display a front license plate on her vehicle, according to police.

After officers spoke with her, they allegedly detected an odor of marijuana coming from her vehicle, police said. A search of the vehicle was done, and a small amount of marijuana was found, according to police. No other contraband was located inside the vehicle, said police.

During the traffic stop, it was found that Thompson allegedly lied to officers about who she was and that she had an active arrest warrant from a 2010 incident in Bridgeport, said police.

Due to previously failing to appear, Thompson was taken into custody and processed, according to police.

The charges in Monday's incident include criminal impersonation, interference with an officer, possession of marijuana and failure to display a license plate, police said.

A subsequent charge of second-degree failure to appear stems from an alleged original charge of disorderly charge, according to police.

After being stopped by police for failing to display a front license plate on her vehicle, Thompson allegedly gave her sister’s name to the officer who stopped her, said police.

Thompson told the officer she had forgotten her license at home, according to police. After other officers arrived and began speaking with Thompson, she stated she lied about who she was, police said.

Thompson then gave her real name of Angel Thompson and stated she had an active arrest warrant out of Bridgeport, according to police.

She was taken into custody and to police headquarters for processing; she was released after posting bond, said police.

She is due in court Thursday and Friday, July 21 and 22, according to police.
