Officers from the Wilton Police Department were dispatched to a stretch of Wolfpit Road shortly after noon on Friday, April 13, where there was a report of a suspicious vehicle occupied by two men.

Police said that when approaching the vehicle - which was occupied by Bronx residents Mamadu Barry and Mohamed Fofana and a juvenile whose name was not released - there was an opened package next to the car, which had been addressed to a Wolfpit Road residence approximately a half mile away.

According to police, further investigation determined that the package had been delivered to the front stoop of the residence a short time earlier and was subsequently stolen. The package was a legitimate purchase by the victim resident that was approximately $434 in value.

Further investigation determined that the victim whose package was stolen was the recent victim of identity theft, and his information had recently been used to purchase a clothing item worth more than $3,000 that was delivered to the home two hours later. Investigators said that “it was evident that the suspects had initially stolen the wrong package from the residence.”

Barry and Fofana were arrested and charged with sixth-degree grand larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, identity theft, conspiracy to commit identity theft, criminal trespassing, conspiracy to commit criminal trespassing and interfering with an officer. The juvenile was also arrested on the same charges.

Both men have since been released on $1,000 bond. They are due to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on April 23 to be arraigned on the charges.
