"They are really dancelike and energetic and are gems of the baroque era that are not often performed," she said. "They are spectacular pieces of music."

The musicians are highly trained and well known, she said.

"These are New York City's finest early music players," she said. "They are young and vibrant professionals. They are all members of The Sebastians which is the premier early music orchestra in New York City."

The Music on the Hill Festival Chorus and a small vocal ensemble — performing sometimes together, sometimes as two choirs, and sometimes independently — will perform the Durante Magnificat and works by Telemann, Buxtehude, and more.

They will be joined by period violinist Daniel Lee and friends. Lee, a violino piccolo specialist, is founder and co-director of the Sebastians, a leading baroque ensemble.

The concert will showcase a replica 1584 Hans Moermans harpsichord donated to Music on the Hill in 2015. The original instrument, built during the “great era of Flemish builders,” was owned by esteemed harpsichord maker Frank Hubbard, who played a significant role in the 20th century revival of early keyboard instruments.

It will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at the Wilton Presbyterian Church, 48 New Canaan Road. Tickets: $20 advance online purchase; $25 at the door.
