Stop & Shop Announces 32 Store Closings, Including In Fairfield County

Stop & Shop announced they plan to close 32 underperforming stores, including five in Connecticut.
The company said on Friday, July 12, that the closures allowed it to take the next steps in its plans to position the company for growth.
Following the closures, Stop & Shop will continue to have a strong presence across its five-state footprint, with more than 350 stores.

A Fairfield County man was charged with alleged DUI and failure to drive right after he was seen swerving in the roadway at a high rate of speed.
Dylan Herbert, age 32, of Wilton, was charged around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, in New Canaan during a selective enforcement in the area of Old Stamford Road and Jelliff Mill Road.
According to Lt. Marc DeFelice of the New Canaan Police, Herbert was spotted by officers traveling at a high rate of speed on Old Stamford Road and swerving in the roadway.

Police in Connecticut are searching for a witness who saw a woman allegedly throw two kittens out of her moving car, killing both.
The incident occurred in New Haven County around 9:45 a.m., Monday, July 8, in Naugatuck.
According to the Naugatuck Police, after receiving reports of the woman throwing the kittens out of a moving car, officers located the kittens, about four to five months old, dead in the area of North Church Street / Route 63 by the dam.

Deaths Of 2 CT Men Found In Burning Vehicle Ruled Homicides
Two deaths of two Connecticut men who were found in a burning car in May have been deemed homicides by the state Medical Examiner's Office.

The two men, David J. Rivera, age 36, and Carlos O. Calderon, age 39, both of Hartford, were found in New Haven County around 4:10 a.m., Thursday, May 30, on Roosevelt Drive in Oxford.
