NY Judge Named ‘Special Master’ In DOJ Probe Of Trump’s Handling Of Classified Docs
A veteran New York judge from Long Island will be tasked with reviewing documents that were seized by the FBI from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Raymond Dearie, age 79, a senior federal judge in the Eastern District of New York, was named by a federal judge in Florida as a so-called special master Thursday evening, Sept. 15. Dearie was one of two potential candidates put forward by Trump’s legal team and was also endorsed by the Department of Justice. Fairfield County Goalkeeper, Two LIers Help US Women's Soccer Team Win World Cup Final
A goalkeeper from Fairfield County and two Long Island natives helped the United States win the FIFA Women's World Cup final 2-0 over the Netherlands on Sunday, July 7. Alyssa Naeher of Stratford picked up the shutout, playing the entire game. The two Long Islanders on the team are: Allie Long, a midfielder from Northport, and Crystal Dunn, a defender, from Rockville Centre. Staples HS Welcomes New Principal
The Westport Board of Education has named a veteran educator to take over at the helm of Staples High School. The Board announced on Thursday that Stafford W. Thomas, Jr. will succeed Principal James D’Amico, who announced earlier this year that he was resigning to take over at his hometown high school in New Fairfield. Thomas will take over on July 1, when D’Amico’s resignation officially takes effect. He was unanimously approved by the Board at a meeting on Thursday, June 20. Memorial Services Scheduled For Ridgefield Police Chief John Roche
Memorial services have been scheduled for John Roche, who died on Thursday, Aug. 30 less than a week after his retirement as Ridgefield police chief. He was 62. Chief Roche is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia (Hance) Roche, and their four children: Amanda Almstead and her husband, Brett; Megan Roche; Michael Roche and Steve Roche; his two granddaughters, Marin and Sydney Almstead; and his brother, William Roche and sister, Sharon Angyal.
