Woman Swerving In Traffic In New Canaan Nabbed For Driving Under Influence, Police Say A New York woman is being accused of driving under the influence after she was stopped for swerving into oncoming lanes of traffic in Fairfield County. Northern Westchester County resident Shirley Wishnie, age 70, of South Salem, a hamlet of Lewisboro, was charged around 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, July 27 after the incident in New Canaan. After receiving reports of the swerving vehicle, New Canaan Police officers caught up with Wishnie in the area of Main Street and East Avenue. Erratic Driving Report Leads To DUI Charge: Norwalk Woman Nabbed In New Canaan, Police Say A Fairfield County woman was charged with DUI after police responded to reports of an erratic driver. Carlyle Elise Bruemmer, age 31, of Norwalk, was arrested by New Canaan Police after being stopped around 630 p.m., on Friday, June 2 in the area of East Avenue and Main Street. Officers located the vehicle and Bruemmer was identified as the operator, said Lt. Marc DeFelice, of the New Canaan Police.  Officers detected the odor of alcohol from Bruemmer and she failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests, police said. Fairfield County Man Turns Himself In For Fleeing Scene Of Crash, Police Say A Fairfield County man was arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of a crash. Christopher Dezso, age 26, of Norwalk, was arrested on Tuesday, June 1, when he turned himself in to New Canaan Police and admitted that he was the person who had fled the scene of a crash on Friday, May 21, said the New Canaan Police. Dezso was driving a grey Ford van when the crash took place at New Norwalk Road and East Avenue in New Canaan before he fled the scene. He was arrested and charged with: Violating a no-passing zone Traffic control signals Evading Dezso was released on a $250 bond.
