Norwalk High School Makes Video To Help Those With Cancer NORWALK, Conn. -- Earlier this summer, Norwalk High School's Bears Battling Cancer hosted a Brave a Shave for Kids with Cancer in support of St. Baldrick's Foundation.  Steve Brueski, a former Norwalk High School football and baseball coach, was not simply a willing participant in the video, but happened to be a participant who was waging his own battle against cancer as well.  In a video in support of the event there is a staggering statistic: 300,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year and the video talks about St. Baldrick's work with aiding those with cancer.

Ismael Campos of Garden Drive was charged with reckless endangerment and evading responsibility on Tuesday before being released on a promise to appear in court, according to the Connecticut Post. In the incident, a 17-year-old from Easton was stopped because of a tractor-trailer on Sport Hill Road, the Post said. Weston First Selectman Taking Medical Leave Of Absence WESTON, Conn. — Weston First Selectman Nina Daniel is taking a medical leave of absence until early next month, according to The Weston Forum. Selectman Dennis Tracey sent an announcement to Town Hall workers that she would return on Oct. 3. Although no specifics were offered, the leave follows a two-week vacation announced last week, according to The Weston Forum. Tracey has acted as interim first selectman for the past week and will continue to do so through Daniel's medical leave, according to The Weston Forum. Long Hill Fire Company Knocks Down House Fire In Trumbull TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Long Hill Volunteer Fire Company responded to Trumbull Center on a report of smoke coming from a house on Daniels Farm Road around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.Crews arrived to find a vacant two-and-a-half story house off the road with heavy fire and smoke showing from all floors and the attic, according to fire officials.  An initial exterior attack knocked down the heavy fire. Crews then stretched two lines to the interior to extinguish any remaining fire.
