Weston Meets Ellington in Girls Hoop Playoffs

WESTON, Conn. – Weston’s girls basketball team will try to extend its season Monday when it travels to meet Ellington in the first round of the Class M tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Weston (8-12) is the 30th seed, while Ellington (21-2) is seeded third. The Trojans won two of their final three games to make it into the tournament.

The Trojans are led by senior forward Ellie Martin, who is the team’s top scorer and rebounder. She is a co-captain for the Trojans with Lianna Hursh.

Ellington is led by senior Kelly Conley, who averages 23.4 points per game. She has reached 30 or more points five times this season in leading the team to the North Central Connecticut league championship.

The winner of Monday’s game advances to the second round Thursday against the winner of Monday’s game between Trinity Catholic and Kolbe-Cathedral.
